Body Armor

Who can OWN body armor?
We sell to Civilian, Law Enforcement, and Military personnel who are residents of the US. We do not ship out of the country. You must be a responsible law-abiding citizen not previously convicted of a felony. We can not sell to any residents of Connecticut, purchases must be done face to face.

Do you test your body armor?
Each batch of our Ballistic Material used in the creation of our Armor Plates are tested by the manufacturer. Each batch is tested to standards within its respected rating.

Is your AR500 Body Armor new production?
Yes, all of our Body Armor is cut and manufactured from a master of Ballistic Grade Armor, specifically designed for armored applications, and is brand new.

None of our armor has been previously used or abused. Rest assured, you are getting a new and reliable product.

Ergonomics, can I still shoulder my rifle properly?
While wearing body armor you want to find the sweet spot between coverage and mobility. Our Body Armor is designed to maximize both of these attributes. Our Trauma Plates allow the Operator to properly shoulder their rifle while providing maximum coverage. The  Shooters Cut allows the operator to shoulder their rifle in a more comfortable position compared to traditional cuts.

Is your AR500 Body Armor Heavy?

AR500 Trauma Plate (10” x 12”) weighs in at 8lb (+/- a few ounces depending on batch), and each 6” x 6” side plate is 2.5lb. We find they carry and balance well. AR500 composit IV armor weighs in at 7.5lbs (+/- a few ounces depending on batch).

MaxPro ceramic armor (10" x 12") weight in at 7lbs (+/- a few ounces depending on batch).

We always recommend a quality plate carrier as it’s the backbone of your system.

Armor Rating, Standalone, and Multi-Hit capability.
AR500 Trauma Plates are rated at the caliber testing of Level III, are stand alone and multi-hit capable. These are some of the benefits of AR500 Body Armor.

Level III armor is designed to protect again rifle calibers up to 7.62x51, .308 Winchester at a velocity of 2780 ft/s. Along with this Level III is rated for all previous level calibers.
Caliber ratings in Level I, IIA and II are .22lr, .380, 9mm, .40 S&W, .45ACP, 10mm, .357 magnum, .357 sig, and .44 magnum.

AR500 Armor plates are also tested with 12 gauge 3” 1oz Slugs, and 12 Gauge 3” 00 Buckshot.

Level IV rated for a single 30.06 APM2 (7.62mm x 63mm 165gr Armor Piercing, Black Tip) round, and all lesser Level III threats, AR500 Armor® Level IV Body Armor provides protection against a higher threat level than our traditional Level III body armor.

It is extremely important to remember that nothing is “Bulletproof”, there are many variables at play which determine a given type of armors effectiveness versus a threat. It is equally important to understand that even if body armor neutralizes the threat; preventing injury or worse cannot be guaranteed.

Have you tested you AR500 Trauma Plates?
Yes AR500 has tested all of the calibers below at a variety of ranges from 100 yards to 10 yards. Calibers include .308, 7.62x39, 5.56, 12 Gauge Slug and Buckshot, 10mm, .45acp, .40 S&W, 9mm (Pistol and Carbine length), and .22lr.

Can I use my AR500 Trauma Plate as a target?
Well… Yes you can, but please leave it dedicated only as a target from that moment onward.

What is AR500 and why is it effective?
AR500 is a general name for Abrasive Resistant steel and the 500 refers to its brinell hardness rating. We use a variation of AR500 that is Ballistic rated and specially formulated and designed for Armor Applications It is designed to withstand hard impact and abrasion. Because of these attributes our Body Armor is very hard, so hard that it can shatter some bullets on impact. There are many variables to this depending on the round and other conditions. It's important to remember than nothing is "bulletproof".

What is Brinell Rating?
Brinell rating is a number system that determines how hard particular steel is. When it comes to AR500 for example, we want our steel very close to 500 Brinell or higher. The Brinell test determines hardness of the steel by measuring resistance against a carbide steel ball with a certain weight. This system has been accepted as the standard in which hardness is rated.
